British Musical Firework Championships 2007

1st Phoenix Fireworks

One of Southport's most spectacular events, the championship provides a visual feast of entertainment for spectators over one weekend. On each of three evenings, two exciting musical displays from the UK's top professional firework companies illuminate the Southport skyline and cast magnificent reflections across the marine lake. As they compete for the prestigious title, each display lasts 15 - 18 minutes and uses 1/2 tonne of fireworks and shells can reach heights of over 600ft.

First Night of Championships

1st Firing - Festival Fireworks UK Friday 5th October at 8.15 pm

Festival Fireworks have been firing display's from its base in Sussex for over six decades and has become one of the most sought after firework display companies in Europe, gaining another two trophies this year in Spainand Rome. Festival fireworks will again be producing the largest firework display in London on the 5th of November attracting over 100,000 spectators. Festival are proud to be the only importer of fireworks manufactured in China with an ISO accreditation, thus improving quality and safety standards of their product. This year in the battle to retain their title as champions, Festival's designers have been working hard to create the ultimate experience for the spectators of Southport.

2nd Firing - Pyromania Display Ltd Friday 5th October at 8.45 pm

Pyromania Displays was established in October of 2001 and we have grown year on year, firing over 80 displays in 2006. Our client list is expanding and we have fired displays for a number of clients including Steve Coogan alias Alan Partridge. We are very enthusiastic about what we do and try to be original and creative in designing our displays. Last year we were voted second place at "Firework Champions" held at Stanford Hall. Our displays are fired with a state of the art firing system which greatly enhances our ability to produce breathtaking sequence work and split second timing. We are looking forward to entertaining everyone at Southport this year.

2nd Firing - G-Force Fireworks Saturday 6th October at 8.45 pm

G-Force Fireworks exploded into life in 1999 and has rapidly gained a nationwide reputation for innovative and spectacular shows with displays to music a particular specialty. Everyone on the team is passionate about their displays and fireworks in general, and they are all looking forward to combining this with many years of experience to provide an exciting and explosive entry to this prestigious competition. We will be using our new state of the art digital firing system and pyrotechnics imported from around the globe, nothing short of an awesome display is on the cards. 2007 is already set to become the busiest year for the company, with record nationwide bookings, including the famous Evesham Riverboat festival which this year saw G-Force Fireworks entertain an estimated audience of 35,000. Talking about the Southport show, General Manager Rob Lewis says, "All of our shows are designed with passion; our crews always go the extra mile to make our displays spectacular, we really look forward to entertaining you".

Last night of Championships

1st Firing - Essex Pyrotechnics Sunday 7th October at 8.15 pm

Now in their 20th year, Essex Pyrotechnics are one of the country's largest designers, importers and manufacturers of display fireworks and civilian pyrotechnics, with offices in north Essex and a factory at Cambridge. When asked to describe his display style, managing director Tom Archer said: "We never let the audience guess what we're going to do next, but never leave them in any doubt when the show is over..."

2nd Firing - Phoenix Fireworks Sunday 7th October at 8.45 pm

1st Place

Phoenix Fireworks was started by the Director and General Manager (Ian Craig) of Joseph Wells & Sons Display Company in 1972 and is now known for its innovative, colourful, world-class displays and 35 years safety record. Most recently they have worked as the UK pyrotechnicians on the London Eye New Year's Eve Fireworks display for the last three years and are the company who fired 70,000 litres of paint in 70 seconds up a tower block in the Sony Bravia paintworks advertisement. Phoenix are one of the few display companies in the UK with the large fully specified FireOne firing system and will be putting on a world class display for the championship.
