Classification of
Fireworks.
1.1G (0333) The UN classification of fireworks packaged for transport that
poses a mass-explosion (detonation) hazard.
1.2G (0334) The UN classification of fireworks packaged for transport that
poses a projectile hazard.
1.3G (0335) The UN classification of fireworks packaged for transport that
poses a fiery projectile or thermal radiation hazard.
1.4G (0336) The UN classification of fireworks packaged for transport that
poses a limited hazard.
What are the different
Fireworks Categories?
There are four main categories as classified by BS7114 : 2 : 1988.
Category 1: 1.4G, (0336) - Indoor Fireworks (Party Poppers etc)
Category 2: 1.3G, (0335) - Garden Fireworks (The majority of fireworks
supplied by shops 5 meter distance)
Category 3: 1.2G, (0334) - Display Fireworks (The largest fireworks on
general sale to members of the public)
These fireworks must be sited at least 25 metres from spectators, buildings
and other hazards.
Category 4: 1.1G, (0333) - Partially assembled and specialist devices for
professional use only. These items must not be sold to or used by the
general public.
The following glossary was
compiled by Dr Tom Smith with the assistance of several members of the worldwide
firework community. This glossary was first produced in December 1997, and
will be added to/amended as others supply further information.
